NEW PLATFORM: Digital National Security Archive (China and the U.S.) is now available on ProQuest

DNSA: U.S. Intelligence and China: Collection, Analysis and Covert Action

The above resources are now available on the ProQuest platform.

This means they can be cross-searched with the other Social Sciences group on ProQuest, or with all the TCD ProQuest databases.

The legacy (Chadwyck-Healey) version of DNSA will remain available until late summer, 2015, when the site will be shut down and redirects will be turned on. 

The new, direct links to the ProQuest versions have been added to the bibliographic records. The old link is also still available there and will be until the site closes down.

MyArchive Content:  Users who have created a MyArchive account will need to move any saved searches and documents they wish to retain over to their MyResearch account on the ProQuest platform. Instructions on how to accomplish this and/or how to create a MyResearch account can be found here.

Irish Newspaper Archives - Update 22nd August

The updated site is not compatible with IE9 and users trying to access the site from IE9 will be redirected back to the current version of the site.

Please note that we will be updating the system on Friday 22^nd August  at 9.00am Irish Time (IST).

The update will provide for a range of improved functionalities including the below.

-          Zoom Tool

-          Article Reference & Citation

-          Word Highlighting in Jump To Page

-          Many more attached in APA5.1 Release Notes

Please note however the updated site is only compatible with IE10 or higher as well as alternative browsers such as Google Chrome, Firefox & Safari.

The updated site is not compatible with IE9 and users trying to access the site from IE9 will be redirected back to the current version of the site.

Irish Newspapers Archives - New platform update

Message from the provider:

INA has now implemented a number of updates to our new platform.
These include the below updates to core functionalities.

-    Full Date Range Search (format dd/mm/yyyy)
-    Multi-publication Search
-    WebMail (to allow for emailing of articles from Public PCs)
-    Citation Info (Included when you Save to Pdf)

Additionally we are undergoing a process of re-indexing of the entire archive which is due for completion February 28th.
This combined with additional hardware upgrades should further enhance search speeds and eliminate any search errors which have being experienced up to this point.

Finally we will be uploading several Video Tutorials onto the Intro Page of the site which will clearly explain the basic functionalities and navigation of the new platform.

INA: Irish Newspaper Archives - new and improved site.

Irish Newspaper Archives has announced the launch of its new website with much improved searching funtionality, APA5.

This increased functionality, i.e. Share With Facebook & Twitter, Save As Pdf, Text View for Scanned Articles will be rolling out on Monday, 9 December 2013.

Knovel - new platform - UPDATE on off campus access to Knovel.

We are once more able to gain access off-campus to Knovel in the usual way.
The new link will be uploaded to the catalogue in due course, but for the moment, the redirects are all working.

Knovel - New platform

Knovel provides online access to over 3,000 leading engineering reference works and databases from over 50 leading technical publishers and professional societies like AIAA, AIChE, ASME and NACE in 26 subject areas.

A Knovel platform upgrade is scheduled to take place today.

On campus, the Knovel URLs in the catalogue will be redirected to the new site, so the users on campus should see no difference.

However, no subscribing institution will be able to gain access off campus via EZProxy until September.

Knovel recommends that users set up a My Knovel profile to gain access off campus.

Message from Knovel

• Please note: For the upgrade on August 15^th, on- and off-campus access to Knovel via EZproxy (and other similar proxy services) is not available. 
• Our customer support team will begin to work with customers in September to configure EZproxy systems for Knovel’s new platform.
• For off-campus access, we recommend users create a My Knovel profile. My Knovel allows users to gain access from anywhere (on or off campus) via a username and password they select. In addition, My Knovel’s personalization features enable users to save and share searches, content and folders.

Micromedex - new supplier, new platform

Further to the post on March 5th, all Micromedex services and products have migrated from Thomson Reuters to Truven data center facilities.The Thomson Reuters link has been removed from the catalogue.

If users are not coming to the resource through the Library's catalogue, a web page will redirect those accessing the thomsonhc address to the new address until June 2013, to allow time to make the necessary changes to ensure continuous product access.

This change of provider impacts all Micromedex access methods including: 
Bookmarks to web based products 
InfoButton links/bookmarks from your HIS system 
Deep Linking, and 
Trusted Source [referring URL] authentication customers.

 

Micromedex

Ownership of Micromedex has transferred between Thomson Reuters and Truven Health Analytics.
A new URL came into being last Wednesday and the old URL was redirecting to it. However, readers were having difficulty accessing this. Therefore, the new [Truven] URL has been added to the Library's catalogue record and the old one left temporarily in place as it has a message about changing bookmarks.

American Society of Mechanical Engineers, ASME : New platform

American Society of Mechanical Engineers, ASME  is due to move to a new platform in December 2012.


The ASME Digital Library will be moving to a new platform (SCM6) hosted by Silverchair Information Systems (SIS) and will be known as the ASME Digital Collection.
