Micromedex - new supplier, new platform

Further to the post on March 5th, all Micromedex services and products have migrated from Thomson Reuters to Truven data center facilities.The Thomson Reuters link has been removed from the catalogue.

If users are not coming to the resource through the Library's catalogue, a web page will redirect those accessing the thomsonhc address to the new address until June 2013, to allow time to make the necessary changes to ensure continuous product access.

This change of provider impacts all Micromedex access methods including: 
Bookmarks to web based products 
InfoButton links/bookmarks from your HIS system 
Deep Linking, and 
Trusted Source [referring URL] authentication customers.

 

Drama Online - Trial access

Drama Online introduces new writers alongside the most iconic names in playwriting history, providing contextual and critical background through scholarly works and practical guides. This is a beta version of Drama Online, made available for trialling, to TCD, until May 29th - extended to September 2013.

You can gain access from TCD Library Databases and E-Books page, on the Trial Databases tab. This database is not available off campus during the trial period.

Micromedex

Ownership of Micromedex has transferred between Thomson Reuters and Truven Health Analytics.
A new URL came into being last Wednesday and the old URL was redirecting to it. However, readers were having difficulty accessing this. Therefore, the new [Truven] URL has been added to the Library's catalogue record and the old one left temporarily in place as it has a message about changing bookmarks.

Medline (ProQuest Dialog) update: 9th March 2013

The following changes in Medline (ProQuest Dialog) will become effective after the 13.1 update scheduled for the 9th March 2013:

The improvements will involve removing redundant data elements (primarily page information, author, accession number, and language) that were appearing both in the Notes field (the tagged N1 field ) and in other fields in our RIS format.  For example, in some databases we currently list “language” in our RIS output in the language (LA) field but also in the Notes (N1) field as “Language of Summary.”

 

Taylor and Francis Science and Technology Collection

Taylor and Francis journals

IReL has not renewed the Taylor and Francis Science and Technology Collection for 2013, due to budgetary issues, and access to these online journals finished at the end of 2012.

However, TCD, via IReL, still has a subscription to the Taylor and Francis Journals (Social Sciences and Humanities) collection for 2013; full list: TandF SSH journals 

Nature journals

Access to current issues of TCD's Nature journals should now be available. Please let me know at once if any of the Nature journals we should have access to are requesting IDs or otherwise restricting access.

ARTstor upgrade

Please be advised that ARTstor will be performing an upgrade to our systems beginning on Saturday, January 26th at 11:00 PM EST and concluding on Sunday, January 27th at 1:00 PM EST. While the upgrade is being performed, users will not have access to the ARTstor Digital Library.

During this time, we will be bringing our new Oracle server online. This improvement constitutes a major upgrade to our infrastructure; for more details, please see Oracle's press release.
