ERIC Free database, ERIC International on ProQuest

ERIC the FREE database [www.eric.ed.gov]: provides access to bibliographic records of 600 journals in the area of education. Due to the partial shutdown of the US federal government, the systems that host www.eric.ed.gov have been shut down.

ERIC Index on the ProQuest platform (where Eric International is the collective title for the 3 indexes: ERIC Index (NOT the Free database), Australian Education Index (AUEI) and British Education Index (BREI)).  This not directly impacted and will continue to be available to customers during the government shutdown, any links to full-text documents on the external ERIC site will not work. Services there will be restored as soon as a continuing resolution to provide funding has been enacted. These issues are the same for all third-party providers of ERIC.

Peace Process: Layers of Meaning - New resource

Peace Process: Layers of Meaninghttp://www.peaceprocesshistory.org/ is a new, free resource, with connections to TCD.

It is a hybrid project involving collaboration between Queen Mary, University of London, Trinity College Dublin and Dundalk Institute of Technology. It is led by Professor Seán McConville of Queen Mary, University of London and Dr. Anna Bryson of Trinity College Dublin.

One element of the project is the development of LOMOND [Layers of Meaning Online Directory], an archive which provides access to surviving interviews, social investigations and oral histories of the peace process.

The Peace Portal complements LOMOND. It is a guide to online resources relating to the history of conflict and peace-making in Northern Ireland. A concise summary of each resource is provided.

Global Plants from JSTOR - New resource

TCD Library has taken out a subscription to JSTOR's Global Plants.

Herbaria preserve plant type specimens that are used for the study of botany, ecology, and other plant science disciplines.

Global Plants is a community-contributed database where worldwide herbaria can share their plant type specimens, experts can determine and update naming structures, students can discover and learn about plants in context, and a record of plant life can be preserved for future generations.

Global Plants contains the contributed collections of more than 300 herbaria from around the globe. TCD's Herbarium has contributed some material to Global Plants.

There are nearly two million high-resolution type specimens currently in the Global Plants database, and this number will continue to grow.
