TCD Library has recently purchased access to a new online resource: Oxford Language Dictionaries Online (OLDO).

The Oxford Language Dictionaries Online website features fully searchable, comprehensive bilingual dictionaries, and study materials that provide extra help with learning and using an expanding range of languages. The languages provided are French-English / English-French and German-English / English-German.

Wilson Omni - New platform

Brill: new platform.

Brill has announced Brill Online Reference Works and Brill Online Bibliographies – two dedicated platforms for Brill’s reference and bibliographical research tools.

Up to, and until, January 31, 2012 holdings can be accessed on both the new platforms and on the old.

Please note, TCD Library does not have subscriptions for all resources on the Brill platforms. The link to the old platform will be available until the end of the month.

(Brill’s publications focus on the Humanities and Social Sciences, International Law and selected areas in the Sciences.)

The Education databases: AUEI, BREI, ERIC, and the medical databases formerly on the Dialog/Datastar platform, IPA, BNI, and DIFT are now all available on the new ProQuest Dialog Datastar platform.

The Dialog/Datastar platform was taken down at the end December 2011 and is no longer available.

The Irish Traditional Music Archive (ITMA) has many sound recordings available online. A Christmas Collection, compiled as an Advent Calendar is online there at the moment.

Irish Traditional Music Archive - new online catalogue

The Irish Traditional Music Archive (ITMA) / Taisce Cheol Dúchais Éireann, (73 Merrion Square, Dublin 2) is a national reference archive and resource centre for the traditional song, instrumental music and dance of Ireland. It is a public not-for-profit facility which is open, free of charge, to anyone with an interest in the contemporary and historical artforms of Irish traditional music.

You can search ITMA's online catalogue, which currently reflects its holding of commercially published materials (sound recordings, printed materials & visual materials) and photographs.Thecatalogue now contains some 55,000 catalogue records. These records cover (in brief format) the currentITMA holdings of

commercial sound recordings (cylinders, 78s, SPs, EPs, LPs, cassettes, and CDs);

printed materials (song & instrumental music collections, studies, tutors, theses, reference works, sheet music, ballad sheets, chapbooks, periodicals, contextual publications, and some 2,500 festival and event programmes);

visual materials (photographic prints, postcards and other still images, and commercial VHSs and DVDs).

More detailed records, including contents, are available in the Archive.

New material will continue to be systematicallyadded to the online catalogue.

Not yet included in the online catalogue are non-commercial field and private recordings, articles from periodicals,offprints, manuscripts, artefacts, digital photographs, the remaining festivaland event programmes, and library ephemera such as posters and leaflets.

Muchof this material however is covered by the ITMA in-house catalogue which isfreely available to visitors.

New Proquest/Dialog platform (former Dialog/Datastar databases)

There are some issues with the URLs on the new Proquest/Dialog platform: AUEI, BREI, ERIC, and for databases formerly on the Dialog/Datastar platform, IPA, BNI, and in particular DIFT.

DIFT is not showing up on the new platform. The Dialog/Datastar platform is due to be taken down at the end of this month, December 2011. We are working with the platform providers to get the issue resolved so there is no loss of access.

The other databases are working with the new links at the moment, but please let Clíona know at once if there are any problems with them.

DRAPIer is a free, interactive database of Irish digital humanities projects in many fields, including, Literature and Language, Folklore, History, Geography, Law. DRAPIer also documents the methods, formats and standards that are being used by the projects so that new projects can learn to use similar techniques, or so established projects can find related work in their field. At present 57 projects are listed in DRAPIer repository. DRAPIer is produced by the DHO, the Digital Humanities Observatory - a project of the Royal Irish Academy.

New Resource: Dublin Castle Records, 1798-1926

The Dublin Castle administration in Ireland was the government of Ireland under English and later British rule, from the twelfth century until 1922, based at Dublin Castle. Dublin Castle Records, 1798-1926 contains records of the British administration in Ireland prior to 1922, a crucial period which saw the rise of Parnell and the Land War in 1880 through to the establishment of the Irish Free State in 1921. This collection comprises materials from Series CO 904, The National Archives, Kew, UK.

A new, free, database has been added to the New Databases page and will shortly appear in the catalogue and on the main Databases page.

Aistear.ie: oiliúint san aistriúchán agus sa Ghaeilge = translator and Irish language training database. This site [edited by Dr. Antain Mac Lochlainn, Ionad na dTeangacha, Ollscoil na hÉireann, Má Nuad] is for translators, editors and anyone writing in Irish. Material on the site includes practical exercises in translation and editing, important texts on written Irish, a collection of the most common mistakes, and notes on the more difficult points of grammar and syntax.

Ainm.ie: Free database

A new, free, database has been added to the New Databases page, the catalogue and the main Databases page.

Ainm.ie makes up the third of three websites being developed by Fiontar: i) the online dictionary, focal.ie, a National Terminology Database for Irish, developed by Fiontar, DCU in collaboration with An Coiste Téarmaíochta, Foras na Gaeilge; and ii) logainm.ie, the place-names database of Ireland. All three are free databases.

The content of Ainm.ie is based on that of the nine printed volumes of Beathaisnéis by Diarmuid Breathnach and Máire Ní Mhurchú. There are short biographies of over 1,600 people whose lives were connected to the cultural life of Ireland from 1560 to the present day. The main text of the database is in Irish.

Samuel Beckett Digital Manuscripts Project (New Resource)

TCD Library has taken out a 1 year subscription (Oct 2011) to The Samuel Beckett Digital Manuscript Project. (See the New Resources tab on the Library's Databases and Ebooks page.)

This project is a collaboration between the Centre for Manuscript Genetics (University of Antwerp), the Beckett International Foundation (University of Reading) and the Harry Ransom Humanities Research Center (University of Texas at Austin).

The [Samuel] Beckett Digital Manuscript Project consists of two parts: (a) a digital archive of Samuel Beckett's manuscripts, organized in 26 research modules. Each of these modules comprises digital facsimiles and transcriptions of all the extant manuscripts pertaining to an individual text, or in the case of shorter texts, a group of texts. (b) a series of 26 volumes, analyzing the genesis of the texts contained in the corresponding modules

A new Proquest/Dialog platform is to be launched soon, for databases formerly on the Dialog/Datastar platform.
There is a demonstration site available, with samples of some of the databases (see below) now at http://www.dialog.com/migration
(FYI: ERIC is available to TCD on the new ProQuest platform. TCD doesn't subscribe to Medline although it is included on this test site.)

With the migrataion of IPAB and International Eric (BREI & AUEI) and ERIC databases to the new Proquest/Dialog platform due towards the end of this month, access has been enabled to the demonstration site for free practice on ProQuest Dialog.

This is available to anyone who would like to have free hands-on practice, quick demonstration or sampling of ProQuest Dialog.

The site requires no login or password to enter.

MyiLibrary - concurrent users

MyiLibrary has not automatically enforced turnaways in order to limit the number of concurrent users. They do monitor the concurrent usage of titles however.

Pearson and Irwin Law publishers have advised MyiLibrary that systems now need to comply with concurrency rules for single and multi user access.

Representatives from Serials Solutions and its sister company, Proquest, will provide a demo of Summon on Wednesday June 22nd at 3.30pm in the North Training Room.

Summon is one of the 'next' generation' resource discovery tools currently on the market.
Summon is modelled on the Google-style approach of building, and then searching a unified index of available resources, instead of searching each database individually. Tools such as these provide unified indexes of the licensed scholarly publications combined with locally held content (like the catalogue).

These tools are the 'next generation' of the present metasearch tools, (e.g. Research Pro). They query the subscription databases and return a single set of results.

The demo provides an opportunity to learn about one vendors offering in this area and to investigate the technology behind the resource.

A new online platform, Taylor & Francis Online, will replace access to the 1,600 Journals and Reference Works currently on Informaworld.

Taylor & Francis Online will be live from 27th June 2011.

Taylor & Francis are currently in the advanced stages of testing and plan to migrate from informaworld to Taylor & Francis Online over the course of the weekend beginning 25th June 2011. During this period users will still be able to access content as normal as we gradually redirect from informaworld to Taylor & Francis Online.

You will still be able to access your Abstracting & Indexing and Bibliographic databases on informaworld as normal, and notice will be sent once these are ready to move to Taylor & Francis Online.

TRAINING
There are online tutorials of the site. There are over 35 online demonstrations guiding you through the features of the new website. The resource was purchased last year in response to demand from researchers in economics and finance. Usage of the resource is not as high as expected. given the comprehensive nature of the deal information which it contains and the relevance of this resource to research and teaching in TCD. Therefore, we arranged this training session, in conjunction with Bureau van Dijk, to raise awareness of the existence of this resource, among researchers and students.

ZEPHYR - New resource

Zephyr – Comprehensive M&A deals and rumours with integrated company financials.

Zephyr is one of the newest business and financial information resources to be added to the Library’s suite of resources supporting these disciplines. Zephyr from Bureau van Dijk provides access to Merger and Acquisitions data, IPO, private equity, venture capital deals and rumours. Zephyr is updated hourly and adds more deals per year than similar resources.

Extensive coverage

Zephyr has information on a vast number of deals, including over ten years of history for deals around the world. The original source of information about a deal or rumour is indicated, and for recent deals, links to the source documents are included (press releases, SEC and other filings).

Translated

Multilingual sources are used to research deals and all deal information is translated into English.

Comprehensive information on rumours

Zephyr has information on rumours, as well as announced and completed deals. Rumours can be tracked and alerts sent as more information becomes apparent or the deal status changes.

Integrated Company Financials

Zephyr includes financial summaries and structures on companies involved in deals. It also has links to the detailed financial data on Bureau van Dijk’s company information products (Fame and Amadeus – available via the Library website).

A new ‘beta’ version of Zephyr is now available with a redesigned interface. TCD members can view this new version, in advance of the official launch, at https://zephyr2.bvdep.com/ip

New Library subscription: Anatomy TV

This teaching tool provides medically accurate 3D models of the human anatomy. The representation of the body is derived from medical scan data that has been interpreted by a team of Primal anatomists and then translated into three-dimensional images by graphics specialists. The anatomy visuals are accompanied by 3D animations that demonstrate function, biomechanics and surgical procedures. The resource also provides clinical videos and text to supplement the core anatomy data.

You can access Anatomy TV from the New Resources section of the Library database webpage. There's also a “How To” guide .

TCD Library’s 12 month subscription provides access to the Anatomy Plus Platinum Package, including the Dentistry module, ensuring this valuable teaching tool benefits as many academic departments as possible.

We aim to assess usage levels and relevancy to TCD academic programmes prior to a renewal of the subscription in late 2011.

State Papers Online - new resource from Cengage

State Papers Online: the Government of Britain 1509-1714

TCD Library has recently purchased Parts II and III of State Papers Online from the provider, Gale: Cengage Learning, the provider of many of the History databases which may be accessed by Trinity College researchers and students.

A Royal Warrant to the Lords Justice of Ireland, sent from Hampton Court in May 1700 concerns Edward Geoghegan, of Castletown, Co. Westmeath, a man who had never been employed under the late king James, and had always shewed kindness to his protestant neighbours. An earlier letter, (1696), was to have reversed accusations of outlawries against Geoghegan. However, as he being in the letter styled gentleman, and in the record esquire [...] he could not receive the benefit of our letter. The 1700 warrant was intended to correct the earlier mistake and to secure a free pardon for Edward Geoghegan, esquire. (State Papers Online Part III: The Stuarts and Commonwealth, James I - Anne I, 1603-1714: State Papers Domestic)

TCD Library has had State Papers Online Part I: The Tudors, 1509-1603 : Domestic since 2008. State Papers Online Part II, The Tudors, 1509-1603: State Papers Foreign, Scotland, Borders, Ireland and Registers of the Privy Council completes the papers of the Government of Britain for the Tudor period. Dr S. Alford of the University of Cambridge writes that these two parts give us practically all the sources we need to investigate the government of the Tudor kings and queens in microscopic detail.

The three parts of State Papers Online purchased by the Library, may be consulted via the usual catalogue record for the State Papers Online Part 1 and via the New Resources tab on the Library’s website.

Wilson's OmniFile Full Text Mega

A note on OmniFile Full Text Mega on WilsonWeb.

The OmniFile contains indexing, abstracting databases and a certain amount of full text. The TCD link resolver is also on WilsonWeb, and links to other full text resources held by the Library if the full text isn’t in the OmniFile.

Omnifile Full Text, Mega Edition features all the content of these full-text databases as well the full runs of every full-text journal they index.

[However, please note, there are indexes within these databases which may not have corresponding full text within the database, for example in cases where a journal is not available electronically. In these cases, the TCD link resolver will lead from WilsonWeb to the Library catalogue for paper copies, where available.]:

The new OECD iLibrary platform is now available.
- seamless and comprehensive access to statistical data, books, journals and working papers

OECD iLibrary supersedes SourceOECD. All existing subscribers are now being migrated.

Parallel access to SourceOECD will be available to subscribers until the migration process is complete.

SourceOECD’s EasyLinks will be automatically re-directed to the appropriate page in OECD iLibrary.

OECD iLibrary replaces SourceOECD and hosts all content equally. The citation tool for datasets and tables is new and unique to the OECD iLibrary.

Elsevier launched SciVerse at the beginning of September 2010.

This new Elsevier platform combines ScienceDirect (fulltext journal articles) and Scopus (abstract and citation database of peer-reviewed literature). In 2011 SciTopics (research summaries) will also be integrated and outside developers will be able to build SciVerse applications (Elsevier and 3rd party tools that integrate with ScienceDirect and Scopus).

SourceOECD new platform, new name: OECD iLibrary

SourceOECD are migrating to a new platform, and adopting a new name, the OECD iLibrary. The two sites will run in parallel from July 2010 for several months.

OECD iLibrary will have Counter compliant data for books and journals, but not for working papers or datasets as Counter standards do not yet exist. OECD iLibrary will provide usage data for all content.

Crossfire Beilstein Gmelin replaced by Reaxys

Reaxys replaces Crossfire Beilstein Gmelin.
Access via the New Resources tab on the Library's Databases and E-books page.

Reaxys is a web-based system for searching the world’s most extensive collection of organic, organo-metallic, and inorganic chemistry data. Reaxys enables you to search by structure, substructure, reaction, text, and property data.

Being based on the CrossFire Beilstein, CrossFire Gmelin and Patent Chemistry databases Reaxys has a long history beginning with chemical data from 1771. The information in Reaxys originates from around 3800 journals and patents from various patent offices. Reaxys is a source for deeply indexed information, especially for experimental reaction data.

JSTOR - new platform

JSTOR launched its new platform today.

There have been several issues reported, amongst them:
1. temporary off campus access problems for some libraries.
A temporary solution may be to advise off campus users to switch from JSTOR's homepage to the login page instead) https://www.jstor.org/action/showLogin

2. Changes to the interface
a. Searching. Now includes all content - subscribed or not - by default.
You can tick a box in the Advanced Search to limit to "Include only content I can access", but it's clear from the screen which items we have access to.

b. LinkSource. JSTOR still doesn't display the TCD linksource icon, however it does show a small box "Go to article" with the text "Trinity College Dublin provides links to recent articles" which brings you to the catalogue via the LinkSource menu. See, for example, the article: Review: Palestinian Children: Dying to Live / Lori A. Allen.

Catalogue records will be created which will redirect to titles archived on Portico. The link to Portico (also available on the New Resources page of the Library website) gives a title-listing and access to all available journals on that service.

PRTLI - €75 million in research funding for TCD

See the Irish Times of today for news of a large amount of research funding secured by TCD and UCD.

The UCD-TCD Innovation Alliance is to benefit from 50% of the total of €358 million being earmarked for third-level research.

TCD is to receive more than €75 million in capital funding aimed at Biomedical Sciences Development.

The Government is committing €259 million in capital funding (directed at buildings) and €99 million in recurrent funding (directed at current and other costs) to the projects under Cycle 5 of the Programme for Research in Third-Level Institutions. - SEÁN FLYNN Education Editor

A new look for the Wiley, RSC and ProQuest platforms

Several of our suppliers will be changing platforms over the next couple of months:

Wiley Online Library:
The target launch period for Wiley Online Library is over the weekend of Saturday, July 24th and Sunday, July 25th 2010. ***This has now been postponed until the weekend of 7–8 August 2010.
Wiley will confirm when Wiley InterScience will be taken down and when Wiley Online Library will be put up nearer to this target launch date. Wiley Online Library will completely replace Wiley InterScience.

The amalgamation of several companies, including Chadwyck-Healey and CSA with ProQuest has meant that several different platforms are used for the ProQuest resources. A project has been in place in ProQuest over the past year to produce a new platform for these resources. This is due to be available before the end of 2010.

Some resources will not be added to the new platform immediately, the plan is to migrate them in 2011: for example: EEBO, LION, House of Commons Parliamentary Papers.

RSC : new platform to be launched

RSC Publishing is about to launch a new platform on July 27th 2010, which, it is promised, will provide powerful, fast access to journals, books and databases. Both platforms will be available in parallel for a time, until any issues arising from the changeover are resolved.

The reader will be able to search across 977,589 articles using one simple interface and refine the results through intuitive filters.

Introduced in 1997, Wiley InterScience incorporates, since June 2008, the online content formerly hosted on Blackwell Synergy, to provide access to over 3 million articles across 1400 journals.

The IReL licence, renewed up until 31/12/2012, covers access to over 1300 of these journals, of which roughly 1200 are full text. Our IReL licence does not cover access to all 1400 journals. It excludes newly launched titles and acquisitions from other publishers. For a list of titles which the new IReL subscription does not cover, see the entry on the IReL website.

Knovel - Training

TCD Library began an annual subscription to Knovel, an e-book collection aimed at engineers and scientists, on October 1, 2009. The subscription provides full access to the 20 subject sections (over 1,800 titles) in the Knovel collection (excluding the Premium Content). In addition, TCD Library subscribed to both Transportation AND Industrial Engineering and Operations Management.

This is one of our largest aggregated collection of e-books serving the needs of staff and students and contains interesting value-added features.

The Knovel trainer will provide an introduction to the content coverage, how to browse, search and use the personalisation feature, My Knovel. Knovel enables users to extract data from the books for further analysis and the session will focus further on Knovel’s data analysis tools.

This database of e-books can be accessed from the Library's databases page at present. Records for the books will be uploaded into the catalogue in due course.

February 2010- Access to IReL funded e-resources

Update

ALL of the IReL agreements expired on December 31st and most of the publishers/vendors provided us with informal extensions of contract (i.e. access to the resources) pending negotiations of new contracts.

Notice of the allocation of IReL funding was received from the HEA a number of days ago (end of January) allowing negotiations of IReL subscriptions to commence. As around 100 separate agreements must be negotiated, it is unlikely that agreements will be finalised in all cases before the end of the informal extensions. As a result, there will be interruptions in accessing IReL journals and databases. The Library regrets any such loss of access and every effort is being made by the negotiating agents, the IReL office and the IReL Steering group to expedite this process.

In the meantime, it is not possible to supply a list of resources where grace periods have expired as we don't know which ones are affected until we lose access. Catalogue records have not been amended yet to reflect the resources’ changes of status. We will update you if this happens.

If you become aware of loss of access to a resource it is important that you inform Arlene (ccing Clíona)

The current Times Literary Supplement [online version] is not available for purchase on an institutional basis or on the basis of IP access. The provider may make it available in the future and the Library will keep itself informed on this. Some articles are available for free on the publisher's site. Trinity College Library holds the hardcopy (paper) version of the TLS, which is current.

TLS Centenary Archive, the electronic archive which covers a time period up to 2005 is available through Trinity College Library.

The Royal Historical Society (RHS) Bibliography of British and Irish History will be superseded on January 1st 2010 by the Bibliography of British and Irish History Online (BBIH).

The RHS Bibliography has been essential tool for researchers of British and Irish history. Following the cessation of funding at the end of 2009, the new BBIH will be published by Brepols Publishers and will change from a free access to a subscription service. Help for users familiar with the RHS Bibliography is available on the Brepols website.

Reaxys Trial access till 30th November 2009

Reaxys is a web-based search and retrieval system for chemical compounds, bibliographic data and chemical reactions. It is built to support chemists in their daily work.

Reaxys starts with the query form, which allows you to enter reaction, substance or textual information.

Reaxys is based on the combined content of the Beilstein, Gmelin and Patent Chemistry databases. Access to the Beilstein (organic) and Gmelin (inorganic) is currently (2009) available via the Library at CrossFire, Beilstein and Gmelin.

In 2010, the CrossFire Service will be replaced by the new Reaxys interface.

Brill's New Jacoby - New resource

New Jacoby (annual subscription) :

Felix Jacoby's 1st 3 parts of Die Fragmente der griechischen Historiker (FGrHist) (1923 -1958), included fragments of 856 Greek historians' writings, and a commentary on many of these fragments. In 1999, indexes to the 3 parts were published. From 1998 onwards, the continuation of Jacoby’s work, edited by Guido Schepens produced FGrHist continued: Part IV (Biography and Antiquarian Literature) .

Brill's New Jacoby (BNJ) includes those fragments which have been edited by Jacoby: parts I-III, adds commentaries on the fragments previously lacking commentary, biographies of authors, bibliographies and an English translation. BNJ will be published online in batches of 50-60 fragmentary authors every six months, beginning in December 2006 and ending in 2013.

The continuation of Jacoby (Vols. IV- ) do not form a part of the BNJ.

SpringerLINK - some general information

SpringerLINK full text of 1336 ejournals and some eBooks.

Through an IReL (Irish Research eLibrary) subscription, Trinity College Library has access to the full text of 1336 electronic journals on the SpringerLINK database platform. These ejournals cover the fields of biomedicine, life science, clinical medicine, physics, engineering, mathematics, computer science, humanities and economics. Kluwer Academic journals are now part of this package; however Brill Academic Publisher is not.

In general, with the exception of the book series, Lecture Notes in Computer Science, the eBooks on SpringerLINK do not form part of the IReL subscription and are not available to TCD users.

Of the top four most-used journals in TCD on SpringerLINK during the last year, only one is in the TCD print collection. However, all ejournals might be available through other Library database platforms. For example, the most used ejournal: Jrnl of Autism and Developmental Disorders is on Academic Search Premier : 1993 to present (Embargo: 1 year), ProQuest Nursing & Allied Health Source : 1997 to present (Embargo: 1 year) and SpringerLINK : 1997 to present .

SpringerLINK generally does not have an embargo on the most recent issues, unlike the other two platforms mentioned, although its coverage may not encompass an equivalent number of years.

An individual user can register from within TCD’s account (that is, from where you can see the database by finding it through the Library system) and this allows the use of features such as RSS feeds and favourites linking. Downloads are free for the journals to which TCD Library subscribes, but if other items outside our subscriptions are found, these can be purchased from SpringerLINK via your personalized homepage. To avoid paying twice for the one resource, a user should check first however, that the required item is not already available through the Library from another supplier.

Springer is developing a new, more user-friendly interface at the moment and plan to launch this in 2010. A feature of this new interface will be a facility to search by Citations which should be a useful tool for all researchers.

TCD Research Support System (RSS) and Trinity's Access to Research Archive (TARA)

The TCD RSS is a web-based information system, which incorporates an expertise database. TARA is Trinity’s Open Access institutional repository, which grants free access to the full text of TCD’s research papers over the internet.

The Research Support System allows members of TCD’s Research Community to input and update all information on their academic interests, research expertise and publications to a central system.

TCD researchers submit their full text papers to TARA via the RSS’s publication input screen. It is not only desirable to upload research papers to TARA in order to increase citations of research papers, but it is often a necessary process in response to Funding Body requirements. Once a paper is in TARA, a 'persistent' link is created which automatically appears in the RSS and which is visible on College web pages. The system generates web pages automatically and helps to avoid repetition in the provision of information.

The RSS enables the promotion of individual Faculty or Research Group work. From this system, up-to-date publications lists can be created and maintained and reports can be generated, for Faculty, School, Department, Research Centre and individuals.

An important part of the Research Support System is the regular export of data to the Expertise Ireland portal .

JSTOR is an archive collection. The 'moving wall' varies between titles, but negociations are ongoing to provide moving walls of zero, i.e. where JSTOR will have the current issues of journals available. TCD Library is commencing an annual subscription to Knovel.
The subscription period will be October 1, 2009 - September 30, 2010.
Complementary access for the period 10-30 September 2009 is to be set up.

The subscription will provide full access to the 20 subject sections in the Knovel collection (excluding the Premium Content). In addition, TCD Library will be subscribing to both Transportation AND Industrial Engineering and Operations Management.

JSTOR – Scholarly Journal archives

JSTOR provides a digital archive of scholarly journals (complete runs of journals, select monographs, transactions and conference proceedings), both in multidisciplinary and in discipline-specific collections.

Via IReL (the Irish Research eLibrary), TCD Library has access to the JSTOR collections: the Ireland Collection (nearing completion), the Arts and Sciences I to VII, the Life Sciences Collection, Public Health Reports and, temporarily, the 19th Century British Pamphlets.

The JSTOR Arts and Sciences Collection consists of seven parts. Arts and Sciences I began with supplying the archives of core journals in economics, history, political science, and sociology and also provides titles in ecology, mathematics, and statistics. The next group, Arts and Sciences II adds to the collections in I. Group III introduces languages and literature, IV focusses on Business, Education and Law and Group V, VI and VII build on all that has gone before. There are between 100 and 150 titles in each group.

The Ireland Collection has titles and resources across the arts, humanities and sciences. A recent addition to the JSTOR Ireland Collection has been, The Transactions of the Royal Irish Academy. TCD library keeps the hardcopy of the Transactions in Early Printed Books stacks; 33 volumes, covering 1787 to 1907. Through the database, Eighteenth Century Collections Online (ECCO), TCD readers have online access to the 7 volumes of the Transactions published in the Eighteenth century. With JSTOR, there is online access to the full run.

It is important to note that JSTOR is an archive. It will not provide access to current journals. There is a “moving wall" with most titles, that is, a time-lapse between the last issue available in JSTOR and the most recently published issue of a journal. It is usually between three to five years. For example, JSTOR has now uploaded the archives of the RIA’s Ériu, covering the years 1904 - 2005 (Vols. 1 - 55). The moving wall here is three years. The Library has the current (Vol. 58, 2008) issue in hard copy.

The archive is being added to continually. A full list of JSTOR titles and collections can be accessed from JSTOR's Collections at your institution page under Resources for Librarians on the JSTOR website. The journal titles may also be found through the TCD Library website's list of ejournals or easy access to the full JSTOR collection is on the Library's website under Information Resources: Databases: J.
