SpringerLink migration to new platform

TCD Springerlink account has migrated to a new platform. Users are automatically redirected to the new platform - link.springer.com. 
Please let Clíona or Arlene know if you have any problems accessing material.


Message from Springer:
In the event that you have maintained direct links to specific eBook Collections on SpringerLink, these will need to be updated. The new navigation of the site requires this. A list of these updated links is on springer.com/librarians.  

Individual Accounts: Unfortunately no individual accounts - My SpringerLink - will be migrated. This means that if your users have set up their own account on springerlink.com, their account will be lost. Due to privacy reasons we are unable to reach out to them, so we are asking your kind assistance in informing them.

For your convenience, we have prepared a sample letter that you could send to your patrons. This letter is on springer.com/librarians.

Taylor and Francis have announced that they will be undergoing maintenance on Monday 29th October 2012, starting at 14:00 GMT and finishing by 19:00 GMT.
The platform will be unavailable during this time.
 

Ireland. National Open Access Statement

At the DRI conference in Croke Park today, Sean Sherlock, Minister of State, Department of Enterprise, Jobs & Innovation and Department of Education & Skills with responsibility for Research & Innovation will launch the National Open Access Statement

The principles driving this Open Access Policy statement are that the outputs from publicly-funded research should be publicly available to researchers and to potential users in education, business, charitable and public sectors, and to the general public.
 
Definition of Open Access

“…free availability on the public internet, permitting any users to read, download, copy, distribute, print, search, or link to the full texts of these articles, crawl them for indexing, pass them as data to software, or use them for any other lawful purpose, without financial, legal, or technical barriers other than those inseparable from gaining access to the internet itself. The only constraint on reproduction and distribution, and the only role for copyright in this domain, should be to give authors control over the integrity of their work and the right to be properly acknowledged and cited”.
